Another week goes by and I still haven“t finished with week 1! I am now in Alajuela near the airport at a hotel for the night before my flight home tomorrow. This week was crazy but fun. Not crazy busy, more crazy immursion into spanish and Tico cutural. The isolated location of Playa Camaronal was hard to get used to (there is literally nothing there), but it was beautiful, I had plenty of time to relax, and I saw sea turtles right up close. And I learned a lot of spanish.
Well, back to the week before. After Volcan Arenal Ben and I drove (partly via ferry) to Santa Teresa on the southern pacific coast of the Nicoya Penninsula. That is surfer country, which was interesting culturally, and the stunning white sand and coconut palms were perfect. We had car trouble with our rental which made things hard (Payless car rental = get less rental). Then back to Alajuela and Ben flew home. Here are some pictures from this second half of our week traveling around this gorgeous country.
Power just went out here…glad I had saved. We are having another tempestad electrica!

Pelican as we travel by ferry from Puntarenas to Paquera

The ferry

Me in a hammock at our ocean view casita...that we had to walk up to because the 4WD on the car was broken

I finally get to drink coconut water from the coconut just as my dad did as a kid...cut open with a machetee

Wow! Gorgeous. Can’t wait to see them all! We’ll get the projector for Sunday
Looks sooooo fun and relaxing! Love the one with ben and his cuban on the beach-very nice!
